Initial Designs – Function

The function of these products is to create a piece of jewellery fit for purpose. I believe the designs are simple and made to good standard.

The jewellery has been designed simply to create a modern, fresh look, targeting a 25+ female gender market. It could be viewed as lacking detail, but I believe these characteristics I have created will suit a younger market.  The intention is to develop these necklaces further but keeping to the simple design remit.

Important features of the jewellery are that it functions, looks high quality and could be made to achieve competitive margins. The surface finish is not to the super gloss level found with most jet jewellery, but I like this slightly rough matt effect created and gives the pieces a different personality.

The gloss levels could be improved if so wished by hand sanding the jet further.

I have hung the jet pieces from 10 inch sterling silver necklaces, which in hindsight might be slightly too long. A 6 – 8 inch may be more suitable dependent where you would like the pendant to sit on your neck.

The pentagon shaped jet above is approx 27mm x 27mm x20mm, whereas the oblong shaped pendant below is 30mm x 16mm x3mm, which do look good proportions.
